Alerta is made by a team at the Apple Developer Academy in Bali (2026), led by Wahyu Kurniawan, who is responsible for your data on behalf of the team. This page explains what Alerta keeps, where it goes and how to delete it.

The short version

  • Sounds and speech are analysed on your iPhone. Audio is never recorded or sent.
  • We keep your account, saved sessions and emergency contacts on our servers, so the app can text your people and keep your history.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.

What stays on your iPhone

  • Microphone. Alerta listens for horns, sirens, traffic and bikes while a session runs. The sound is analysed on the phone and then discarded.
  • Your name and danger words. Recognised by the iPhone’s built-in on-device transcription. What you say isn’t saved or sent anywhere. The words you add are kept on your iPhone (and in its iCloud backup), not on our servers.
  • Motion. Used to work out which way is ahead while you move.
  • Camera (testing tools only). Video is analysed on the phone. A recording is saved only if you choose to save one, and it stays on your iPhone until you delete it.

What we store

  • Your account. When you sign in with Apple: your Apple user ID, name, email address and profile picture. If you choose Hide My Email, we only see Apple’s relay address.
  • Saved sessions. Whether it was a run or a ride, when it started and ended, how long it lasted and the alerts you got (the kind of sound, its direction and how close it was). Sessions don’t include your route.
  • Emergency contacts. The name and phone number of each person you add, and which events should text them.
  • Location. Alerta uses your location while you use the app, to detect runs and rides. Saved sessions don’t include where you went.
  • Your live location, only in an emergency. If an emergency text goes out, it includes a link to your live location so your contact can find you.

Crash reports

When the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry (servers in the United States). A report says what went wrong in the code, your device model, iOS version and app version. It doesn’t include audio, speech, your contacts or your location.

Our website

alerta.ayungavis.com uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies. When you tap a beta button, we count which button was tapped and on which part of the page. We don’t store your IP address, browser details or any cookie.

Who else handles your data

  • Apple, for Sign in with Apple, TestFlight and iCloud backups of your iPhone.
  • Sentry, for crash reports.
  • Cloudflare, for the website.
  • Our server and text-message providers, to store your account and send emergency texts. They may be outside your country.

We don’t sell your data and don’t use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete your account. Deleting your account removes your account, sessions and emergency contacts from our servers. Copies inside your iPhone’s iCloud backup follow Apple’s backup settings.

Your choices

  • Turn the microphone, location, notifications or camera off in Settings › Alerta. Alerta tells you what stops working.
  • Delete your account in Alerta: Settings › Account › Delete account.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it: wahyu@ayungavis.com.

Age

Alerta is for adults aged 18 and over. If you think someone under 18 has given us their data, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above. If a change affects what we collect, we’ll tell you in the app first.
